These days, goods and services move globally. Just as products cross national borders, so do recycled resources. Economic growth and population growth in Asia and around the world are generating more waste, and more kinds of waste. But in developing countries in particular waste treatment techniques may be lacking, and such countries are facing serious environmental problems. Meanwhile in Asia, where there is rapid economic growth, demand for resources is booming and demand is expected to keep growing. Japan believes that to respond to such challenges and to make further progress in the recycling of resources, it is vital to share the 3R-based "sound material-cycle society" (SMS) concept internationally. This video introduces Japan's efforts to build a worldwide SMS.
