This short video traces a community that is currently doing their best to return Satoyama to the way they once were. Satoyama is equated with the forests, fields and the natural environment that has been an integral part of people's lives for centuries in Japan. In Toyooka ciy, efforts are underway to restore the area as a Satoyama for oriental storks.
The traditional wisdom of the Satoyama is now being revisited to help respond to the challenges of the modern day.
