75 young people from Japan and 14 other countries-including other Asian nations and Oceania-gathered in Okinawa for the 2008 "Asian Youth Exchange Program." They participated in lectures and learned through hands-on experiences about the environment and scientific technologies. The aim of the program is to foster young people to initiate future activities that will help other people. By living together for three weeks, the participants gained a firsthand appreciation of the importance of thinking together and acting together.
