The World Heritage site of Hiraizumi, in Iwate Prefecture, was completely unaffected by the earthquake. The Konjikido (Golden Hall), decorated with gold, is a truly stunning site. Friends' Message:A variety of ingredients, presented with care. (Simplified Chinese)
My friend and I are eating at a Japanese restaurant in Ginza today. I love the way Japanese cooking draws out the natural flavors of the ingredients. I'm having eggplant tempura - eggplant is in season at the moment. This restaurant uses fresh ingredients and pays close attention to how the tempura is fried, so I know I'll get something delicious, no matter what I order. Celine

I'm a landscape gardener and I work on cultivating traditional Japanese gardens. There is so much to learn from Japanese culture - like the elegant garden designs or the concept of wabisabi (simplicity and impermanent beauty). Just being in a beautiful Japanese garden, with such wonderful use of space, is enough to put you in a natural state of tranquility. Arnaud

Global One Village,One Product
On the occasion of the WTO Hong Kong Ministerial Conference held in December 2005, Japan announced a comprehensive development package - the Development Initiative for Trade - with a view to achieving development in developing countries through trade promotion.

In this video we see various specific ways in which the Japanese government is advancing this initiative.

International Recycling Society
These days, goods and services move globally. Just as products cross national borders, so do recycled resources. Economic growth and population growth in Asia and around the world are generating more waste, and more kinds of waste. But in developing countries in particular waste treatment techniques may be lacking, and such countries are facing serious environmental problems. Meanwhile in Asia, where there is rapid economic growth, demand for resources is booming and demand is expected to keep growing. Japan believes that to respond to such challenges and to make further progress in the recycling of resources, it is vital to share the 3R-based "sound material-cycle society" (SMS) concept internationally. This video introduces Japan's efforts to build a worldwide SMS.
