The G8 Labour and Employment Ministers Meeting
The G8 Labour and Employment Ministers Meeting was held at Toki Messe in Niigata city from May 11th to 13th, 2008, prior to the G8 HokkaidoToyako Summit.Three main sessions were held to hear reports on problems faced by eachcountryand discuss various employment and labour issues.Yoichi Masuzoe, Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare, also held intensivebilateral discussions with each delegate. At the conclusion of the three-day meeting, three points were presentedfor considerationat the G8 Hokkaido Toyako Summit: 'Enabling well-balanced lives in harmonywith increased longevity'; 'Addressing the needs of vulnerable workers and areas'; and 'Promoting theNiigata Global-Balance Principle'.
